Growing and Livestock

When we first thought about moving to the country, our plans for animals were hazy at best. A lamb for our children's school 'calf club' day was as far as we had thought. A month in to our farm life and we realized that all our paddocks grass was growing into a jungle.

Either Paul needed to expand the ride-on mower route to include the paddocks, or we needed some livestock.
Once again we barely had time to think before we were offered our first animals; Two rather scatty sheep (one already has proved itself an amazing fence jumper) and a collection of six hens. The sheep take up one paddock nicely, whilst the hens have a newly build hutch and will soon be roaming freely.

Next up, three calves that we reared from a month old. It was a long and arduous learning journey but now they are pretty independent and serve as excellent lawnmowers!

Currently (Dec 2016) we have a total of three Cows, seven Sheep, 21+ Chickens, eight Ducks, three Cats and a Dog. More than enough to keep us busy!
